Results of the first quarter of fiscal year 2009

Record quarterly sales and profit in Apple’s history. The iPod sales set a new quarterly record.
The results of the first quarter of fiscal year 2009 are:
- Sales of 10,170 million dollars (7,845 million), growing by 6 percent over the same quarter last year.
- 1610 million U.S. dollars (1,242 million euros) net profit, a 2 percent higher than the same period last year.
- Gross margin of 34.7 percent, equal to the same quarter last year.
- In the quarter were sold 2,524,000 Macintosh computers: desktops and 728,000 notebooks 1,796,000. Which represents a 9 percent growth in units.
- This quarter 22,727,000 iPods were sold, up 3 percent more units in the same quarter last year.
- During the quarter were also sold 4,363,000 iPhones, growing 88 percent over the units sold the same quarter last year.
2008 was the year Apple has to overcome all the records and is now at the top, and hopefully we can continue to see Apple a much better 2009.
