Yesterday, Apple released 10.5.5 update of its Leopard operating system via the control panel software update. The update is recommended by Apple for all users who are running 10.5, 10.5.2, 10.5.2, 10.5.3 and 10.5.4. In a rare warning, Apple says you should first make a backup of your computer before installing the update. We know that safeguarding your computer before an update must be practical, but this step is often overlooked in the rush to apply a patch.

Apple Web site, the 136 MB download includes the following improvements:

General

It includes updates to Apple’s recent security.
Addresses stability issues with video playback, processor idling, and share remote disk for the MacBook Air.
