Vienna, Austria – Markus Mueller has announced MindNode Pro 1.3, an update to his popular mind mapping application for Mac OS X Leopard. With a focus on ease-of-use, MindNode Pro features a very simple and intuitive interface that lets the user focus on expressing and developing ideas.

MindNode Pro 1.3 is a major release that adds the ability to create cross connections and to edit the mind map in fullscreen mode.

MindNode Pro was specifically created with the user in mind so nearly no time is required to learn the interface. By leveraging technologies introduced in Leopard, MindNode Pro’s features are carefully integrated and only surface when required. Easily print, share and export mind maps as PNG image, FreeMind, PDF, HTML or OPML documents.

Among MindNode Pro’s most prolific features is that maps are not restricted to the size of a page. Multiple maps can be used on one canvas and the application resizes automatically in the background accordingly.

MindNode Pro offers several ways to create new nodes. Double-click on the canvas to create a new root node. Simply click and drag the node well to create a new child node. This approach makes MindNode very adept at creating visually appealing mind maps. MindNode Pro also includes several built-in keyboard shortcuts to quickly create nodes during brainstorming sessions. Nearly all interactions can be performed very easily with the keyboard.

DDH Software Releases Mac OS X Sync Conduit for HanDBase for iPhone

April 23rd, 2009 | 3 Comments | Posted in Mac, MacOS

Wellington, FL – DDH Software today announced availability of its long anticipated Mac OS X conduit for syncing HanDBase databases stored on their iPhone and iPod touch devices. HanDBase, a popular relational database for many types of mobile devices, was released last fall in the Apple iTunes App Store, and many users have been asking for a way to automatically synchronize their databases with their Macs. The new HanDBase Plus add-on package now affords them with this capability.

When using HanDBase on the iPhone or iPod touch, a feature called Desktop Connect enables a wireless connection between the iPhone and any desktop web browser. Using this connection, users can install databases to and back up databases from their device. But having a conduit available adds many additional capabilities using this same wifi connection capability.

With the new Mac HanDBase Plus add-on conduit, all databases stored on the iPhone/iPod touch are mirrored on the desktop automatically when the user initiates a sync. Using the included HanDBase Desktop, users can make changes to records and these changes are intelligently merged with the changes made on the iPhone.

Many synchronization modes are available to fine tune the way the data is merged for each database. For example, a database used by healthcare staff to collect patient survey information could be merged by multiple iPhone HanDBase users into a single database, and the records then deleted from the iPhone for a fresh start. Or a price list of products could be updated to a salesperson’s iPod touch each time they sync to provide them with the latest pricing of the products they sell.

RightZoom, turns the button Zoom lens (green) into maximizing

zz2a280517 RightZoom, turns the button Zoom lens (green) into maximizing

There are many beginner users of the system Mac OS X to which the behavior of the button Zoom lens, the green one of all window of MacOS X, can disturb them at first sight, for all of them today I bring RightZoom an application that allows to fix that button maximize always the windows. Many are not even accustomed to the behavior by defect at first little uniforms of this button “to expand” and miss the functionality of Windows maximizing window, in which the windows occupy all the possible space of the writing-desk (well, I found cases in which they have gotten to me to say that this considers the failure very serious of the system, in short, am people for everything).

RightZoom these worries were ended, we can define the behavior of this button any application or to even assign to a short cut of keyboard or a key when beating the button to define the behavior that we want. Application is gratuitous and although to many stupidity will seem them sovereign, surely yes that it will have his public, since it is not the unique application that allows to define this behavior of the system, sounds to me that there are some more. Those that gives a little bad thorn are the Blazingtools, the people in charge of RightZoom, whom also they have offer another application to directly have a species of pseudo-menu of beginning in the called Dock Start-Menu and some other tools related to the security whose aspect seems a little at first neglected.

In short, that if one of your problems when using Mac OS X is the happy green button, you know that there are applications that allow to form the system until unsuspected limits.

Tweets on the desktop with GeekTool

March 13th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Mac, MacOS

As reported on TUAW yesterday, a reader named Ben G light of my recent art show iCal events and to-dos on the desk and took a step further. Inspired by iCalBuddy, wrote a command line utility called twitterbuddy rather than watch the last tweets of people behind you. How is it on your computer is more or less the same process as iCalBuddy.

Once you have downloaded twitterbuddy, double-click the file to install install.command. To test its operation, will open a new Terminal window and type twitterbuddy -h. This should provide the following options:

picture 2 Tweets on the desktop with GeekTool

As you can see, typing twitterbuddy -u yourusername -p yourpassword -n 5 -t Tweets will display the last 5 tweets you have received, with the title “Tweets”. After perfecting your settings in Terminal, adding the command to GeekTool is easy. As with iCalBuddy, the only subtlety is that you have to use the full path, as shown below: More »
