Apple wish list for 2009

fresh apple Apple wish list for 2009

Here are ten things I’d like to see in 2009 from Apple. These are not ten more important than ever, but are the elements that have been in my mind lately.

1. A better Finder. I have used for years because the Pathfinder Finder in Mac OS X is, well, pathetic. It is time for a modern Finder in 2009, reflecting the ability of Pathfinder combined with the best thinking of Apple.

2. The end of the business tools broken. Once the pursuit of Apple is a company based Mac OS X, future versions should not break and leave broken for months and months. A good example is the security base (BSM). There are other examples. This is happening for years, business users are so sick and tired of this situation.

3. New Life for the Apple TV. Recently, TVPredictions.com predicted that the Apple TV would die in 2009. Instead, it must be a product you want to die for all.

4. Mac OS X virtualization. Why not run a full copy of Mac OS X within an operating system Darwin tightened at checkpoints with virtualization? That way, if something goes wrong, we can smoothly return to the last checkpoint of good?

5. Miniatures tabs on the home page of Safari. OmniWeb I use mainly on image for pages that are better than chips. Undoubtedly, Apple could politely leave this function of the Omni Group. Safari is a joy to use.

6. ZFS. I can not wait to do my ZFS file system. Apple has been testing with Mac OS X Server. With luck, in 2009, which will join Snow Leopard for the rest of us.

7. Apple clearly on FireWire. Apple goes to the USB 3? FireWire 3200? eSATA? It is a great Wold is whether they were able to Apple in 2009 to agree on a protocol champion and, as they did with DisplayPort. Only a selection.

8. Best-fire and the configuration of time machine. At times, Apple is going above and makes it so simple, becomes the operating system as a toy. Why not have a better set of values that are exposed to the admin user and other, smaller sub who are exposed to the user without privileges? Mac OS X have increased significantly, leaving useful later in the configuration of a hodgepodge of shareware applications, but invites problems and loss of control of Apple.

9. Graves Apple Mail. Apple e-mail is not necessary to make a list. No need an RSS reader. We have all these applications, and make it better. What Apple Mail does not need a better system designed to handle the accounts, SMTP servers, and signatures. Deleting an account does not lead to the deletion / deletion of all messages on this account. It’s amazing that after all these years, the origins of color to your inbox? Alternating color lines? If things go as they were, Thunderbird 4, in future it will become a practical alternative to Apple Mail.

10. iTunes refactoring. It is just me or is crazy to have a directory in the iTunes music contains a directory called iTunes iMusic, which in turn contains a folder called TV programs? And the films? Should not the home directory and then, like the Apple TV contains a directory named “My Videos”? What can MyMovies and MyTVShows from other sources? Clarity for beginners and experienced users and would be useful here.

What is your list?
