Byline 2.5 Brings Progressive Google Reader Syncing to the iPhone

April 30th, 2009 | No Comments | Posted in Software

London, United Kingdom – Phantom Fish today announced the release of Byline 2.5, a major update to the news reader and offline web browser for iPhone and iPod Touch. Byline synchronizes with a free Google Reader account and offers instant offline access to articles and complete web pages, including embedded images. New features include progressive syncing with Google Reader, an option to sort items by their source feed, and a refined user interface.

“Progressive syncing allows Byline to start processing the data it receives from Google Reader straight away, before it’s finished downloading,” said Milo Bird, the developer of Byline. “You’ll be able to start reading your items even more quickly than before, and because the data is processed in chunks, the user interface will stay responsive throughout.”

Byline 2.5 offers a dedicated button to toggle the new ‘sort by feed’ mode. For the first time in Byline, items can be sorted and grouped by their source feed, rather than sorted just by date. This feature can be used to follow the thread of a single news source, in addition to the broad categories offered by folders configured using the Google Reader web interface.

The user interface features an attractive new appearance which is designed to let the content to stand out with as few distractions as possible. Long headlines are wrapped over two lines to improve their readability and to make it easier to browse through a large number of unread items.

Pricing and Availability:
Byline is available from the iTunes App Store for $4.99 (USD).

external link10 300x300 Deep Pocket Series releases ABC Cursive Writing for iPhone/iPod Touch

Lantana, Texas – Deep Pocket Series LLC today introduces ABC Cursive Writing 1.0, their handwriting improvement solution for iPhone and iPod Touch. Designed to take advantage of the iPhone’s unique abilities and interface, ABC Cursive Writing was specifically created to help adults improve their handwriting skills, yet fun for children who are learning the basics of cursive writing for the first time.

Users can practice the lower and upper case ABC(s) and numbers, as well as offering an easy way to practice words created by the child or parent. ABC Cursive Writing may be customized for a particular word or sentence phrase. The child can enter words at the top of the screen and the program will then present the letters in that specific sequence to create the words. This is ideal for children practicing their name, phone number or anything that parents want them to repeat.

“I truely feel that this app will help people have better handwriting which is a lifelong skill that is needed” said Dr. Harvey Castro, CEO and Founder of Deep Pocket Series LLC. “I think health care providers could reduce some medical errors by working on their handwriting.”

The Doodle board allows children to draw pictures in different colors if they choose not to work on their handwriting. The colors are red, yellow, green, blue and purple. Other fun features include being able to erase letters by simply shaking the iPod/Phone. Taking pictures of the Doodle board or letters is as simple as pressing the Home Key and On/Off button at the same time. All work is erased by simply shaking the device.
